About us

ELTROCON GmbH is an engineering services company based in Bönen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Our main focus is on carrying out studies and investigations for operators and project planners of industrial and public electricity distribution networks. We deal with questions concerning the operation of existing grids as well as the planning and projecting of grid expansion or reconstruction measures. Another focus of our activities is the continuous consulting and support of distribution grid operators in all technical and economic questions of daily business.
Our advisory work is based on our many years of experience in the energy industry and energy technology sector as well as our in-depth expertise. In addition, we have a dense network with numerous players in the energy supply sector. This ensures that we can offer you “state of the art” advisory services at any time. With our solutions individually tailored to your requirements, we help you to master the current and future challenges for your grid.

Eltrocon was founded in 2013 by Dr.-Ing. Holger Weber. The team currently has 4 employees and is reinforced as needed by student employees, mainly from the TU and FH Dortmund. Eltrocon is a member of the Forschungsgesellschaft Energie an der RWTH Aachen e. V. (FGE).

Dr.-Ing.

Holger Weber

Founder & Managing Director

Dr.-Ing. Holger Weber is the founder and managing director of Eltrocon. He mainly deals with modelling, calculation, analysis and optimisation of distribution and transmission grids from a technical-economic point of view. Mr Weber has many years of experience. In addition to his work for Eltrocon GmbH, this is also based on his previous 7-year employment at Consentec GmbH and his studies of electrical engineering at the RWTH Aachen. During his work at Consentec, Mr Weber already dealt with similar topics, but in addition also with issues such as the regulation of distribution grids, European electricity trading as well as system services in the transmission grid, which means that he has a broad knowledge of the entire energy industry and a large network of technical experts for a wide range of topics. In addition, Mr Weber has been able to demonstrate his expertise through numerous seminar participations and lectures as well as follow current developments and discussions in the grid industry.

Andreas Kubik

Project Manager Electrical Power Engineering

M.Eng. Andreas Kubik has been a permanent employee of Eltrocon since 01.11.2020 after working as a student trainee. He completed his bachelor's degree in energy management at the Dortmund University of Applied Science and Arts. During his bachelor thesis he dealt with the implementation of a power flow calculation in a software for solving mathematical problems. He then completed the master's degree program in energy systems at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, specializing in energy systems engineering, and graduated in September 2020 with a master's thesis on the development of future distribution grid structures in cooperation with the distribution grid operator in Kempen. During his work for Eltrocon, Mr. Kubik dealt intensively with issues in the field of grid modeling, planning, calculation and optimization, among others, in connection with target grid planning for several distribution grid operators. In particular, Mr. Kubik is responsible for questions in the area of plant design. This subject area includes the calculation of the thermal and dynamic short-circuit resistance of lines and substations, the arc fault calculation including the derivation of reliable recommendations for protection against work under voltage as well as the pressure calculation in switchgear rooms in the event of a short-circuit.

Andrea Wagner

Assistant to the management

Andrea Wagner has taken on a central role in Eltrocon's organization and communication since 2019. She takes care of all office correspondence and answers post, e-mails and phone calls. In addition to managing the office organization she makes appointments with customers and coordinates the schedule of the management as well as other employees and organizes business trips. Due to her previous employment in different companies, some of which operate internationally, she has extensive experience. Her positive and open-hearted manner makes her the first point of contact for both customers and employees.

Patrik Schorn

Project Engineer Electrical power engineering

M.Sc. Patrik Schorn has been a permanent employee of Eltrocon since 01.02.2023. He completed his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and information technology at the Technical University of Dortmund with a focus on electrical power engineering. During his bachelor thesis he investigated the voltage dependency of loads to relieve the transmission grid in voltage critical situations using different load models and load compositions. Subsequently, he completed his master's degree in electrical engineering and information technology at the Technical University of Dortmund, also with a focus on electrical power engineering. Accompanying his master's studies, he was employed as a research assistant at the Institute for Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Economics at the Technical University of Dortmund, where he primarily worked on grid modeling and grid calculation. He completed his master's degree in November 2022 with a master's thesis on the development of a decentralized active power control system using a distributed agent system and its implementation within the institute's own smart grid laboratory. His fields of activity at Eltrocon include grid modeling, calculation, planning and optimization.
